Election Commission Writes To Maharashtra’s Chief Secretary :

The Central Election Commission has written a letter to the Secretary of Maharashtra as the assembly elections are going on in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana. The Central Election Commission has expressed displeasure over the non-reporting of the suggestions made regarding the transfer of officials in the wake of the upcoming assembly elections. The news agency ANI has given a report in this regard.

The Central Election Commission had written to the chief secretaries of Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Jharkhand and Maharashtra. The letter was directed to transfer officers who have been working in the same post for more than three years. This letter was also written to the Chief Secretary of Maharashtra. However, he has expressed his displeasure as the Chief Secretary ignored the Commission’s letter.

The Central EC has now directed to provide an explanation as to why the notifications made within the given period were not reported. The Central EC had earlier sent this letter on July 31.

Subsequently, three such reminders were sent on August 22, September 11 and September 25. However, since there is no reply from the Chief Secretary of Maharashtra, he has pulled the trigger. Instructions have now been given to explain why the reply was not sent despite sending three reminders.

Elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana, when in Maharashtra?

Meanwhile, the Central Election Commission has announced the election schedule for Jammu Kashmir and Haryana and the second phase of voting process has been completed in Jammu Kashmir. The polling process will be held in Haryana on October 5. Also, no information has been given yet regarding the assembly elections in Jharkhand and Maharashtra. The term of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly is going to end in the month of November.

Election Commissioner on Mumbai visit

Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar along with Election Commissioner Ganesh Kumar and Election Commissioner Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu arrived in Mumbai on Thursday night. State Chief Electoral Officer S. Chokkalingam welcomed them. Additional Chief Election Officer Dr. Kiran Kulkarni, Additional Chief Electoral Officer P. Pradeep and Mumbai Suburban Collector Rajendra Kshirsagar were present.
